In recent days my life has been profoundly impacted by a combination of conspiracy theories. Some almost believable, some entirely ludicrous, bordering on obscene or offensive.
Like religious fanaticism, I always wonder how anyone can select and believe a particular theory without wavering. How can anyone have such faith when conflicting arguments are only a Google search away?
Some examples of such theories include;Freemasonry, Illuminati, The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, Round Table, The Open Conspiracy, Externalization of the Hierarchy, End Time, Fourth Reich, Alien Invasion,Brave New World.
If you put all of these in a blender, the result would be some semblance of what I am faced with now. The person I used to know so well know believes the general population are brainwashed fools (sometimes, that part doesn’t seem so far from the truth) and is vehemently opposed to anyone who does not share the same belief.
I am left to ponder how this came about, and how to pick up the pieces.
